Bilzin Sumberg is a commercial law firm in the heart of Miami practicing in the areas of Corporate & Tax, Government Relations & Land Development, International, Litigation, Real Estate and Restructuring & Bankruptcy. Dedicated to promoting diversity and fostering an environment of inclusion and respect within the firm and beyond, Bilzin Sumberg is proud to support the LGBT community, SAVE Dade, and SAVE Dade Chairman of the Board Brian S. Adler.
Bilzin Sumberg was an Equality Hero Level sponsor of the 2013 Champions of Equality event attended by over 600 attendees as part of SAVE Dade’s 20th anniversary celebration. The firm is also a sponsor of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s upcoming 17th annual Miami Recognition Dinner. Last year’s event raised over $500,000 to benefit organizations serving the LGBT community.
Bilzin Sumberg supports LGBT initiatives among the business and student communities in Miami-Dade. Last year, the firm hosted at its Brickell Avenue office the University of Miami School of Law’s OUTlaw Mentor Reception. OUTlaw seeks to advance the LGBT community at the University of Miami School of Law and to educate the law school community on LGBT politics and culture. Speakers from Bilzin Sumberg are also panelists at an annual event at the University of Miami on LGBT issues for students entitled “Is it IN to be OUT? Candid Advice for LGBT Law Students.” As a member of the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Bilzin Sumberg joins the organization in its commitment to promoting a unified and thriving, gay and gay-friendly, business and professional community throughout the County.
The firm’s diversity and charitable involvement initiative, Bilzin Sumberg Cares, reflects its strong commitment to providing a professional environment where individuals representing different sexual orientations, genders, ethnicities and religions can flourish both personally and professionally. The Diversity Committee oversees the firm’s program for recruiting, training, retaining and advancing personnel in all practice areas to maximize diversity at the firm. The Committee also actively monitors the firm’s existing policies and procedures to ensure they comply with and promote diversity goals. For the past several years, the firm has participated as a recruiter in the annual National LGBT Bar Association’s Lavender Law Conference & Career Fair and will again have a booth at this year’s upcoming conference in San Francisco.
The firm shares SAVE Dade’s vision of a community where people who are LGBT have full equality in all facets of life. We look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Adler and the organization to make positive change for the Miami-Dade LGBT community.
