At the urging of SAVE, the North Bay Village Commission has voted to move forward a ban on the abusive practice of so-called conversion therapy within village borders!Read more
In the wake of this weekend's massive protests, we're hitting the ground running in the fight to defend LGBTQ equality.
We're so proud to announce that yesterday, at the urging of SAVE, the El Portal Village Council voted unanimously to BAN the abusive practice of so-called "conversion therapy" within village borders!
At SAVE, we're proud to stand as the first line of defense for South Florida's LGBTQ community. But we'd be lying if we said we weren't scared for the fight ahead.
The unthinkable happened and Donald Trump won the presidency. Mike Pence, who favors twisted and abusive anti-LGBTQ conversion therapy, will be our vice president.
We must stand and fight, or else lose everything. Please give $50, $500 or whatever you can so your local LGBTQ advocate can fight for you to the very end. >>
We'll keep fighting tooth and nail to ban conversion therapy. The results prove we know how -- we did it in Miami, Miami Beach, Wilton Manors, and North Bay Village.
Mike Pence made his name as the Indiana governor who crusaded to legalize discrimination against popular revolt. With President Trump's ear, we shudder to think about his aims for LGBTQ Americans.
Give $50, $500 or whatever you can so your local LGBTQ advocate can fight to keep our future from slipping away under President Trump. >>
Mike Pence and the Trump administration have promised nothing less than an all-out assault on our rights. There has never been a more urgent time for you to show your support.
Thank you for standing with us.
At the urging of SAVE and sponsor Francis Suarez, the City of Miami Commission has voted to ban the discredited practice of anti-LGBTQ "conversion therapy."
Thank you to Commissioner Suarez for his sponsorship of this critical resolution, as well as SAVE Action PAC-endorsed Commissioners Ken Russell and Willy Gort. Their leadership will create a more equal future for ALL Miamians.

We have also succeeded in moving bans forward in Miami led by Commissioner Francis Suarez and in North Bay Village led by Mayor Connie Leon Kreps.
Also known as “reparative therapy,” the practice of so-called conversion "therapy" is actually not a clinically tested medical therapy at all. This so-called "therapy" is really a dangerous and discredited practice that falsely claims to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
Such practices have been condemned by every mainstream medical and mental health organization as bordering on torture, but due to continuing societal bias against LGBTQ people, practice of so-called "conversion therapy" continues without any legal consequence.
Minors are especially vulnerable to the dangers of this sham "cure" for being LGBTQ, and the use of so-called conversion "therapy," especially in LGBTQ kids and teens, has been tragically shown to lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, self-harm and suicide.
SAVE's campaign to outlaw so-called conversion therapy at the local level comes as a result of the Florida legislature's failure to pass HB137 -- a bill filed by Miami Beach's own outspoken LGBTQ advocate State Representative David Richardson -- which would have outlawed conversion therapy statewide.
In the face of such inaction on conversion therapy, SAVE teamed up with Rep. Richardson and turned instead to local lawmakers to do the work that the legislature refused. Click HERE to join SAVE in demanding that elected officials across Florida outlaw the abusive practice of conversion therapy. >>
So called "conversion therapy" finds its basis in the prejudiced and outdated view that being LGBTQ is a mental illness in need of treatment. Of course, we know today that being LGBTQ is not a disease, and that sexual orientation and gender identity are psychological traits that generally cannot be changed.
This bold new campaign is only possible because of engaged citizens like you making your voices heard -- and we will only succeed by speaking together with one voice, in favor of outlawing this abusive practice.
