The 2024 Champions of Equality Awards Gala was an immense triumph, shattering new records, and presented a wonderful opportunity for attendees to show their support for SAVE, meet new individuals, reunite with old acquaintances, and commemorate the organization's accomplishments.
We honored heroes who tirelessly champion equality and humanrights. Our 2024 honorees truly represent the ideals of this year's theme 'A Force For Good'. Each of them have stood resolute in the fight for full equality for LGBTQ+ people, and are deserving of this special recognition.
We honored these change-makers:
- Young Luminary: Nicola Frachesen
- Broward County School Board: Sarah Leonardi
- Co-Founder & CEO, Afro-Pride: Damon Jones, and
Co-Founder & COO, Afro-Pride: Donald Gunder - Trans Activist: Jessica Lam
- R House Chef: Rocco Carulli, and
R House Entrepreneur: Owen Bale
The gala raised over $486,000.00 in sponsorships, memberships, tables purchased, live auction bidding and donations received in the room. Much of those funds were raised in advance of the gala through the Florida AIDS Walk and will now be DOUBLED by AHF.

About Champions of Equality Gala
SAVE established the Champions of Equality awards reception in 2005 to honor individuals who have significantly advanced the cause of equality for the LGBTQ community in South Florida.
SAVE’s Champion of Equality brings together several hundred, political, civic, and community leaders from throughout South Florida who stand for fairness and equality for LGBTQ people.
The 2021 Champions of Equality Awards reception is gearing up to re-emerge after the 2020 virtual gala’s success. We are planning a safe and modest assembly of luminaries in South Florida.
