Dear Friend,

Champions of Equality Virtual GalaI am reaching out to let you know of our difficult decision to change our much anticipated Champions of Equality Gala on September 23rd from in-person to a virtual event. Amid the seriousness of the global pandemic and Delta variant driving surges of infections in Florida, we feel strongly that this is the right thing for the safety of our community. The crowd size and indoor component of the gala were the driving factors in our decision. Following the success of last year’s virtual gala, and with a stellar lineup of honorees and speakers, we are determined to make it even bigger and better. The hard work of our staff and volunteers continues.

Participation in the event is free; donations are kindly encouraged and can be made here. All proceeds from the event will support SAVE’s work to protect people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) against discrimination.

Hosted by Representative Brian Sims

SAVE is also excited to announce that this year’s virtual gala will be hosted by Representative Brian Sims, Pennsylvania’s first openly gay elected legislator and frontrunner to be the state’s next lieutenant governor. Elected in 2012, Sims is also a lawyer and activist on LGBTQ civil rights.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the evening will include musical performances by Miami bred singer and songwriter Robbie Elias and guests, and an online silent auction.

Several sponsorship opportunities are still available; Click HERE to review the sponsorship deck, or contact me directly at [email protected] to make arrangements for your support. All proceeds support SAVE’s mission to promote, protect, and defend equality for LGBTQ people.

We look forward to celebrating with you on September 23!
