City of Miami Commission votes to ban conversion therapy!

At the urging of SAVE and sponsor Francis Suarez, the City of Miami Commission has voted to ban the discredited practice of anti-LGBTQ "conversion therapy."

Thank you to Commissioner Suarez for his sponsorship of this critical resolution, as well as SAVE Action PAC-endorsed Commissioners Ken Russell and Willy Gort. Their leadership will create a more equal future for ALL Miamians.

Tell your elected officials to join the City of Miami -- end the practice of so-called LGBT conversion "therapy" in Florida! Add your name here. >>

Over the last few months, SAVE has teamed up to pass conversion therapy bans in Miami Beach led by Commissioner John Aleman and in Wilton Manors led by Commissioner Justin Flippen.

We have also succeeded in moving bans forward in El Portal led by Councilman Harold Mathis and in North Bay Village led by Mayor Connie Leon Kreps.

Minors are especially vulnerable to the dangers of this sham "cure" for being LGBTQ, and the use of so-called "conversion therapy," especially in LGBTQ children and teenagers, has been tragically proven to lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness, self-harm and suicide.

SAVE's campaign to outlaw so-called conversion therapy at the local level comes as a result of the Florida legislature's failure to pass HB137 -- a bill filed by Miami Beach's own outspoken LGBTQ advocate State Representative David Richardson -- which would have outlawed conversion therapy statewide.

This bold action was only possible because of engaged citizens like you making your voices heard. Thank you for your support.
