Rikka Milan
Rikka Milan (they/she/he) was recruited into the House of Milan's Florida chapter in 2021. Since then, they've walked and won state-to-state in gender non-conforming (GNC) Face and Best Dressed categories. In their short tenure, Rikka earned recognition as the First GNC Face Of The Year in New York, Florida, Virginia, and the South East Region, as Florida's Best GNC Of The Year for 2 years, and as the South East Region's Most Outstanding Person Of The Year.
They currently serve as a leader in the Florida Ballroom Alliance and they co-founded the GNC Advocacy Committee, a cross-House movement for more GNC categories to be represented within Ballroom mainstream.
Outside of the Ballroom scene, you may know Rikka as Dr. Erica Friedman, associate director of the Pride Center at FIU, and founder and CEO of Deviate 2 Elevate LLC, offering LGBTQIA+ inclusive workplace consultation and training.
They are a social psychologist and scholar practitioner who believes in employing pro-Black, anti-racist, intersectional feminist, and transformative justice lenses to champion bodily autonomy and self-determination as they advocate for queer and trans equality and acceptance.
Rico Milan
Rico Milan (he/him) got involved in Ballroom in the early 2000s, first as a founding member of House of Cavalli (Florida Chapter), then to the Iconic Pioneering House in Ballroom - the House of La'Beija, and finally landing in the Legendary Royal House of Milan in 2007, where he's called home ever since.
Having initially debuted in the Executive Realness category, Rico quickly moved into Runway categories; and by 2006, he found his stride leading him to win countless Of the Year Awards for dominating All American and European Runway and earned recognition as Butch Queen and Statement Of The Year. Also known for hosting the "Flip the Script" Ball series, Rico was deemed Legendary for Runway in 2013. He is Florida's Very First $1000 Runway Ruler, Florida's First All-American Legend, the first Legendary Runway Of the Year Winner in the Southeast Region, amongst many other esteemed honors from pioneers and icons of the scene.
Through the years, Rico worked at the national level for the House of Milan, served as the lead House Lives Matter Florida delegate in efforts to bring support and acknowledgment to FL ballroom, and is a respected leader in the Florida Ballroom Alliance. In 2019, he accepted the position as Father of the House of Milan Florida Dynasty and overseeing leader for the Southeast Region, debuting in 2021, and leading the house to being inducted into the Florida and Southeast Region Halls of Fame status in 2024.
Outside of Ballroom, Rico has worked in workforce development for over 20 years, creating opportunities and access to resources in South Florida communities. You can catch Rico starring as a lead character in the international film festival acclaimed indie-series, A Beautiful Cruel Thing. Rico is also a proud, 27-year member of Alpha Phi Alpha, a 24-year Ancient Free & Accepted Mason, and proud father of some amazing children.
