Since 1995, SAVE has hosted the LGBTQ community’s largest community gathering to celebrate Halloween. You might ask why. The answer lies in the history of the LGBTQ+ experience which has been plagued with “the closet”, shame, and social stigma.
The SAVE Halloween Ball brings out a variety of creative costumes that emphasizes self-expression and remains a signature event of the organization to use as a day of freedom, self-expression, and creativity. The event includes a costume contest, drag king and queen performances, and performances by various dance and musical artists.
