Broward County Bans Conversion Therapy

Great things happen when we all come together. On Tuesday the community team effort that included SAVE, Equality Florida, SunServe - Social Services for South Florida's LGBT Community and various faith leaders from across the County resulted in the Broward County commissioners unanimously voting in favor to pass a countywide ban on conversion therapy. The bill will ensure this so called "therapy" is kept from hurting any more #LGBTQ youth in Broward County.>

Special thanks to Bill Sponsor, Commissioner Nan Rich and Community Leader, Michael Emanuel Rajner for being at the helm of this initiative and to Wilton Manors Vice Mayor, Justin Flippen for supporting our mission from the start.

SAVE Recommends State Rep. David Richardson for Congress

Richardson is running in Florida’s 27th Congressional District for a seat that is being vacated by longtime champion of equality Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

Richardson made history when he was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 with the support of SAVE, becoming the first openly gay state representative in Florida. During his time in the House, Richardson has been an effective leader within the Democratic Party and able to work across the aisle to produce results. Richardson has made bold strides toward reforming the criminal justice system and pushing for sensible gun control laws. For the past three years, he has been fighting in Tallahassee to protect LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and fraudulent practice of conversion therapy.

Our team is working diligently to plan fundraisers and organize our army of volunteers to support Richardson in his historic bid for Congress. Electing him to the House will be a pivotal part of the our continuing efforts to resist the current administration’s attacks on the LGBTQ community.
