Student Organization Micro-grant

The SAVE Student Club Micro-Grant provides up to $300 to student-led organizations to fund events that further equality, visibility, and connection. Whether you are planning a voter registration drive, a town hall, or a celebration of queer joy, this grant is designed to remove financial barriers.

We support all student leaders. We understand that advocacy looks different on every campus. That is why this grant is open to both officially recognized student organizations and independent/unofficial groups operating on campuses across South Florida.

This process is designed to be a professional development experience. By applying, you will gain real-world skills in grant writing, budgeting, and impact reporting.

What We Offer:

  • Funding: Up to $300 per approved proposal to cover catering, supplies, and event costs.

  • Inclusivity: Eligibility for both university-recognized clubs and independent student coalitions in South Florida.

  • Mentorship: A guided application process that teaches you "Active Voice" writing, budget justification, and strategic planning.

We treat our student grantees like professional partners. In exchange for funding, you will learn how to measure success using data and how to produce a professional Impact Report and Video Testimonial. These are tangible achievements you can add to your professional portfolio or resume.

    • Applicant Status: Applications must be submitted by a current student enrolled in a college or university in Miami-Dade or Broward Counties. Faculty advisors may support, but the lead applicant must be a student.

    • Organization Status: Both recognized student organizations (RSOs) and independent/unofficial student groups are eligible to apply. Your organization must be based in Miami-Dade or Broward Counties in South Florida ONLY.

    • Method of Payment:

      • Funds will be disbursed via check or direct deposit within 14 days of approval. Further disbursement information will be provided upon receiving the grant.

    • This grant is for upcoming events only. We will not fund events that have already taken place.

    • Grant funds may not be used for:

      • Personal expenses not related to the event.

      • Political campaign donations.

      • Direct cash prizes or gift cards.

      • Alcohol, tobacco, or cannabis products.

    • Allowable Costs: Food/catering, venue rental fees, speaker honorariums, marketing materials (flyers/ads), and event supplies (decorations, stationery).

    • Proposals that do not explicitly reference SAVE’s mission keywords will rank lower. Show us you did your homework.

    • Avoid jargon or acronyms. Write as if you are explaining the event to a friend who isn't part of your organization.

    • Incomplete budget tables or missing sections will result in automatic disqualification.

    • Failure to submit the Impact Report and Video Testimonial within 14 days will disqualify your organization and leadership team from all future SAVE grants.

    • By submitting photos and video testimonials, you grant SAVE the right to use these materials for our marketing and fundraising efforts.

    • This grant operates on a rolling basis, meaning applications are accepted year-round. However, to allow for review and processing, your application must be submitted at least 45 days prior to your event date.
